We announce the successful completion of the first year of academic programs at the College of Fisheries Science, St. Devasahayam Institute of Fisheries Science and Technology (DIFST). Building on this achievement, we have welcomed 50 new students to our second batch(2024-25), reaffirming our commitment to providing high-quality education in Fisheries Science and fostering future professionals for the fisheries and aquaculture sectors.
Our first year has been marked by significant milestones. We secured Government Order No.75 from the Government of Tamil Nadu, increasing our student intake from 40 to 55. Our faculty published eight first-semester textbooks with ISBNs, enhancing academic resources for our students and future batches.
Our campus infrastructure has grown steadily, featuring advanced facilities such as the Multi Use RAS based Wet Lab (MURAW) and Marine Ornamental Fish Rearing RAS Facility (MORR), Microbiology Laboratory, Mukkadal Musseum, and Library.
Through our outreach initiatives, we successfully implemented multiple Capacity Building programs, sponsored by the NFDB, Gol, and collaborated with MANAGE, Hyderabad, on a virtual events. Additionally, we take pride in having successfully inaugurated the Student Scholarly Society (SSS), which has enabled our students to engage in various extracurricular activities viz. Literary, Eco Club. Music, Blood donation, Tamil Peravai, etc fostering their overall growth and development. Throughout the year, our students have actively participated in diverse events, competitions, and workshops, showcasing their talents and skills.
As we build on our momentum, we are enthusiastic about our prospects for shaping a vibrant future for our students and the regional fisheries industry.
