A field visit to the turtle hatchery at Duvarahapathi was organized for the students as part of the National Service Scheme (NSS) activity for the Batch 2025–26. The primary objective of the visit was to provide students with practical exposure to turtle conservation and biodiversity preservation.
At the hatchery, officials from the Forest Department delivered an informative session on the importance of sea turtle conservation, their nesting behavior, and the various methods adopted to protect these endangered species. Students gained hands-on knowledge about egg collection, incubation techniques, and hatchling care.
A major highlight of the visit was the hatchling release program. Under proper supervision, students actively participated in releasing the hatchlings into the sea and learned safe and ethical practices that enhance their survival rates.
